Teacher's Notes
Pre-P1
- Unit 16 and Unit 43 are taught as one big project. However, students should still produce two separate blogs for each unit.
- The students will most likely be unaware of lots of documentaries, so the teacher should try and use the first 2-3 weeks to get the students to view as many different documentaries as possible and introduce the topic, with this document. Use this document for post home viewing analysis. Use this document as an example of in-class analysis.
- Students should analyse documentaries that they have seen
- Students should be made aware of certain theories and issues connected to documentaries: Bill Nichol's 6 modes, manipulation and subjectivity in documentaries as well as any other theories that the teacher feels is necessary.
- A guest speaker who will pick the final projects would be a great addition to the unit.

Journalistic Tasks
Whilst students are doing their P3 work, they should complete journalistic activities to help prepare them for their documentaries.
-"Life at Long Road" - One lesson, small groups, camera and premiere pro. Get them to showcase what it is like at long road.
-"Celebrity foreheads" - students should play this party game, but the purpose of the game is to showcase "you ask yes or no questions, you get yes or no responses"
-"Interesting person" interview. See document
-"Hobby Archival Footage" - students should record a 30-60sec audio clip of their hobby and why they are interested in. They should then get footage from online to play with their audio.
